My father was visiting for the Christmas holidays so we made a couple of guitar videos for your viewing pleasure here:
This is Dan Herron from Austin, Texas playing You Really Got Me Cover by Van Halen. Dan is using Ernie Ball Music Man Axis guitar with Line6 Flextone II amps.
This is John Herron from Marble Falls, Texas playing Crossroads Blues Cover by Eric Clapton. John is using Ernie Ball Music Man 5150 Axis guitar with Line6 Flextone II amps.
Here’s my latest acquisition, a Vintage Sunburst Ernie Ball Music Man Axis Guitar.
Beautiful isn’t she.
Thanks to Marty in Chicago for selling me this beauty. By the way, ebay is a rip off. Send the buyer a note and ask if they’ll sell the guitar off ebay in a private sell.
Stephen Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990), born in Dallas, Texas, was an American blues guitarist. His broad appeal made him one of the world’s most influential electric blues guitarists. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Stevie Ray Vaughan #7 in their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Stevie lived in Austin; he was the younger brother of Jimmie Vaughan of Austin, Texas.
Here’s a couple of Antone’s show prints I had framed at Hobby Lobby. They did a spectacular job! (If you go to Hobby Lobby at 183/Lakeline, ask for Mona). I bought these posters at Antone’s back around 2000. I’ve got a couple more of Stevie and Buddy Guy I’ll get framed one of these days.
Aren’t those matching frame mats stunning!

(This post was made on an Apple G5 Tower because a Dell couldn’t handle it.)
I think this is the new EVH Wolfgang Fender prototype guitar or did Eddie just cut out the horn off of his Peavey Wolfgang? At Summer NAMM 2007 in Austin, I spoke with Charvel/Jackson, Marketing Manager, Brian McDonald. He said they were working on a new EVH Fender guitar, most likely priced under $2,000 so I betcha this is it.
I don’t care for this headstock. Does it look uninspiring or what? I think it looks like a shark or lobster claw. I wish he would have a Music Man style neck. I wish Ed would come up with something new rather than just keep regurgitating the same guitar over and over with each company he changes over to.
As you may or may not know Panama City Beach is the No. 1 Spring Break spot in US; it’s a most spectacular vacation spot because the beaches are primo.
I grew up vacationing in PCB from a kid and was just there last week so I know every nook and cranny of this beach so I found this show to be very interesting and a fresh break from COPS.

Tune in for 2007 Spring Break mayhem in the new special series “Ocean Force: Panama City Beach.”
Hello from the World’s most beautiful beaches—Panama City Beach, Fla.
Sugar white beaches, best in Florida.
Panama City Beach Pier.
We’re getting huge wave swells from Hurricane Dean. I just bought a Boogie Board and going to catch some waves.
This is our condo in the middle.
Here’s the view from our balcony.
Condo Livingroom.
My bedroom. We all have to have separate living quarters because we constantly fight about the AC temperature.
(PS Grandma is jitterbugging to “Word Up” by Cameo on my iTunes right now, very funny, now SuperFreak by Rick James, video to come).
Thanks to my Panama City Beach Flickr friend 🙂 Danarah for hooking me up with some good Panama City Beach info. Here’s a link to her Flickr photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/danarah/
Getting ready to leave for my vacation Sunday morning. I’m a little worried about the Hurricane Dean and what affect it will have on our Florida vacation.
I’m off to Pulaski, Tennessee to pick up pa and mamal then we’re heading to Gulf Shores, Ala. and Panama City Beach, Fla. Monday, for a week of holiday before heading up Niagara Falls, Canada, the following week.
Sunday, August 19th Update
What a day. I’m exhausted because I stayed up until 2:30am Saturday packing for my trip. I left Austin at 10am and drove to Dallas where I picked up I-20 and drove through Shreveport, La., all the way to Jackson, Miss.
I just got through eating a late dinner at the Waffle House. I’m bedding down for the night at the Marriott Fairfield Inn, right outside of Jackson, in Pearl, Miss.
Monday, August 20th
I’m planning on leaving at 7am, through Meridian, Miss., to Birmingham, Ala. where I’ll hop on I-65 up to Tennessee.
Picked up the folks, we’re now in Panama City Beach. Out of the last 48 hours, I’ve driven 22 of them. Thanks to the Lord, Jesus for delivering us safely. Amen.
This years NAMM, held at the Austin Convention Center was packed full of music industry professionals from all over the country. Sellers displayed the latest gear while buyers roamed the show room floor checking out the latest offerings.
Only disapointment, NO ERNIE BALL!
EVH 5150 III HD and 4×12 Half Stack, but no Eddie???
This is Fender EVH Marketing Manager, Brian McDonald from Scottsdale, Ariz. He worked with Eddie on the development of the EVH III. He said right now they’re working on a full product line and new guitar, most likely under $2,000. He gave me n EVH pick (photo to come).
Austin’s own, Jerry Jeff Walker, strumming away at the Martin Guitar booth.
This is Ibanez artist, Rob Balducci. He played an awesome demo!

These Fender Strat guitars are roughed up to look vintage. Unfortunately, that’s how my guitars look after I build them to look brand new!!!
